SPRING BREAK SAFETY TIPS

Health/Nutrition

  • Make sure you are drinking your H20, 64 oz
  • Monitor the times you are eating out -instead pack a lunch/make your own
  • Wear sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours
  • Be active and get 30 minutes of physical activity a day
  • Be current on all vaccination when traveling out of the country

Alcohol

  • Rule of thumb: 1 standardized drink per hour
  • Watch your drink, do not accept a drink from anyone else
  • Know the emergency numbers of the place of travel -Be familiar with the drinking laws in the other states and countries of travel
  • Plan your driving/transportation before leaving for a night of drinking
  • Be familiar with what to look for in the case of alcohol poisoning-Symptoms: -Excessive throwing up, -Pale/cold skin, -unresponsiveness, -slow breathing (less than 8 breaths in a minute)

Sexual Health

  • If you choose to have sex, make sure you have protection with you
  • Decide before you go out what personal boundaries you want to set regarding intimacy
  • Have a buddy system in play in case of an uncomfortable situation and do not leave with anyone unknown. -If you are leaving the areas where your friends are, make sure they know where you are going and with whom
  • If an emergency is to occur, make sure you know the resources and contact information available in your location.
