A team of awesome people trying to make campus healthier one cool event at a time.

Every year, the UNK Peer Health Education Office puts on awesome (and actually fun) events to give UNK students alternatives to high-risk behaviors. Whether it’s an athletic event or a chill movie night, the Peer Health Education Office has an activity that will interest every student on campus! Check out all the events our office has to offer!

OkSOBERfest is an event, traditionally on or around Halloween, where our office provides fun and safe Halloween-based activities. In years past, this has included: carnivals, fear factor competitions, haunted houses, casino games, and movies. This year, our office will be providing reduced-price tickets to KneeKnocker Woods – an outdoor, animatronic Halloween experience located in Gibbon, NE!

Free Movie Showings

The Peer Health Education Office hosts FREE movie showings traditionally at Kearney Cinema 8. UNK students get a chance to kick back and see movies before they leave the box office, all while enjoying free popcorn and a drink!

Back to School Bash

This event is typically hosted on the first day of classes in the fall as a fun way for UNK students to hang out and get to know each other. The Back to School Bash looks different every year, but a few things always remain the same: it’s FREE, it’s FUN, and it’s on campus!

…and so much more!

The Peer Health Education Office is also available to give presentations to classrooms over topics including alcohol education, bystander intervention training, and healthy living in college. We have also teamed up with Kearney Cab to provide the Safe Ride Program. This program allows UNK students to receive free cab rides home to reduce the possibilities of drinking and driving. Click HERE to find out the specific details of the Safe Ride program.

If you or someone you know has ideas about events you’d like to see on campus, or if you want to help improve UNK’s health and wellness, contact us or apply to become a Peer Health Educator today!
